Overview
Al Bateen Executive Airport is the first dedicated private jet airport in the Middle East and North Africa regions (MENA). The airport originally came into use in the 1960’s as the first main airport in the capital city, until Abu Dhabi International Airport was opened in 1982. In 1983, Al Bateen was transformed into a military air base until the end of 2008, when ADAC took over the management of the airport’s operations and turned it into a world-class executive airport.
Currently, the airport has a stand capacity for up to 50 private jets with fast and efficient turnarounds with no holding patterns and short taxi times. Existing carriers already operating out of the airport include Al Jaber Aviation, Falcon Aviation Services and Rotana Jet.
In 2011, Al Bateen Executive Airport launched its brand new FBO service, Munawala, and within the first two years of operation the new FBO was ranked in the top five best FBO’s around the world twice by the European Business Aviation News (EBAN).
Further developments are moving ahead on schedule as the airport progresses its strategic aim of being one of the best dedicated business airports in the world. Al Bateen Airport continuously aims to provide more for its valued customers. While existing developments are indeed underway, the current airport infrastructure already provides the highest standards to royalty and VIP passengers as well as visiting crew.
To cater for the booming demand in private aviation, the airport is undergoing expansions of its infrastructure and services, including:
- A new VVIP facility- 2200 SQM
- Apron enhancements
- Renewal of Runway
- Internal road and landscaping upgrades
- New fuel farm
- Terminal and lounge improvements
- Hanger upgrades
- Free zone benefits
